April 28 barbecue to benefit student selected for leadership forum
This summer, Levi Maker of Georgetown will join outstanding elementary school students from across the state to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM event for six days and five nights at Villanova University near Philadelphia.
NYLF Pathways to STEM is one of the Envision by WorldStrides family of programs that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.
Levi was nominated to attend the forum by Emily Lapole, his third-grade teacher at Georgetown Elementary School. A member of the school’s robotics team, Levi also plays with the Henlopen Soccer Club. He aspires to be a police officer, YouTuber or professional gamer. He is most excited about learning how to code his own game.
To generate funds for Levi to attend the program, a barbecue chicken fundraiser sponsored by S.E.B. Enterprises will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, April 28, at a Rehoboth Beach residence. To preorder, call Shayne Brittingham at 302-249-8714 or Alexus Duffy at 302-258-6364; the address will be given when the order is placed. Donations will also be accepted. To give through Zelle, send to Alexus Duffy at 302-258-6364.
The program will help Levi establish and build on five areas of success: emotional intelligence, communication, collaboration, critical thinking and goal setting. By the end of the program, Levi will have improved presentation skills and a greater sense of confidence and independence.
