Bayhealth is proud to recognize its 2024 Delaware Today Top Nurses as awarded at the recent Excellence in Nursing Awards. Four Bayhealth nurses were honored as category winners and there were an additional 115 Bayhealth honorees.
As a Magnet® organization committed to upholding the highest standards of nursing, Bayhealth nurses were encouraged to nominate their peers for this distinguished honor. The extensive list of Bayhealth honorees spanned the 16 categories and rising to the top of each of their respective categories were Top Nurses:
- Logan Bradford, LPN — Licensed Practical Nurse
- Karin Cooney-Newton, MSN, APRN, ACCNS-AG, CCRN — Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
- Gretchen Massey, BSN, RN, PCCN — Case/Utilization Management
- Sarah Swan, MSN, RN, CCRN, CSC — Clinical Educator
They’re in different stages of their careers, represent different disciplines, and have different passions, but Bayhealth’s Top Nurses are firmly united in their commitment to make a difference in the lives of their patients and community members.
For Top Nurse Karin Cooney-Newton, connecting with and learning from her patients is one of the most rewarding parts of being a nurse. “I just love people. I love hearing their stories, what they’ve experienced in life and what makes them who they are,” she shared. “And what many of them don’t realize is that talking with them is as rewarding and helpful to me as what I’m doing to help them as their nurse.”
Bayhealth Chief Nurse Executive Rosi Wurster, DNP, RN, MPH, NEA-BC, CEN, delights in every opportunity she gets to shine a light on her team. “It is my honor to lead this team of Magnet® nurses—to celebrate their achievements, support their passions, and elevate their voices with the shared goal of providing outstanding care to our community,” she said. “Shoutout to Delaware Today for all they do to celebrate this committed and compassionate group of healthcare workers across the state.”
