This February, celebrate Black History Month with towering works from the acclaimed Black artist, Dane Tilghman, in his solo exhibition, “Every Day Man.” From February 7 to March 9, Tilghman’s pieces will hang alongside RAL’s “Recent Acquisitions” collections showcase and the league’s members’ creations.

On the evening of February 7th from 5-7 pm, the art league will host an opening reception for its exhibitions, inviting anyone interested to visit the Corkran, Tubbs, and Ventures galleries to see these new shows.

Step into the Corkran Gallery and become transfixed by Dane Tilghman’s larger-than-life paintings. “Every Day Man: Works by Dane Tilghman” features pieces inspired by African Americans in and out of daily life, popular entertainment, and the world of sports. Dane’s creative philosophy is to bring to the audience his interpretive views of life on canvas. This is reflected in his diverse presentations as he shares his artistic gift with his audience. His unique style clearly defines his mastery of the craft. Using black and white photos as a starting place, Tilghman attempts to connect to the souls of those who have gone on to glory before him, immortalizing the everyday man on canvas.
