All-County Honors Bands to perform at Cape Feb. 27
Cape Henlopen School District recently announced nine Mariner Middle School musicians have been selected to perform in the Sussex County Junior Honors Band.
To audition, Mariner students worked hard practicing solos and scales. After a rigorous audition process, competing against top musicians from schools across the county, Mariner had the highest number of all middle school students selected.
Sussex County Junior Honors Band representatives from Mariner are Rosa Morales, flute; Seth Bradford, clarinet; Leah Carlisle, tenor saxophone; Grace Hudson, French horn; Elizabeth Mills, trumpet; Jillian Gibson, trombone; Maycey Mulveny, tenor saxophone; Joe Roushey, euphonium; and Carter Blackwood, percussion.
Under the direction of Brian Mahoney, these dedicated students have demonstrated exceptional musical skill, commitment and perseverance. Their selection is a testament to their hard work and the strength of Mariner’s music program.
The All-County Junior Honors Band will perform a special concert at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Cape Henlopen High School theater, where these young musicians will showcase their talents alongside the best middle and high school musicians in the county. The event is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and dedication to their musical craft,” said Mahoney. “This achievement reflects not only their talent, but also their commitment to excellence. We can’t wait to see them perform on stage with their peers from across the county.”
