On a cool and blustery late April morning, representatives from all three branches of the American Legion Post 17 family gathered to form a parade line of cheer for one of its own.
A local veteran family consisting of active Post 17 members had fallen on tough times, and most recently had received a rather tragic medical analysis.
To send some love and well wishes, albeit under proper social distancing protocols, Legionnaires and members of the Sons of the American Legion and the auxiliary organized a caravan to drive by the family’s home and show support.
American Legion Post 17 continues its mission to assist local veterans and their families, even in small ways. Post volunteers remain committed to their American Legion mission and look forward to a time when all can truly be out in service to community again.
Post 17 also has remained active by donating groceries to the Community Resource Center in Rehoboth Beach, to veterans at Home of the Brave in Milford, and to three other community locations that are helping with food at this time.
Volunteers have also been connecting by making face masks and sending cheer via greeting cards.
