Anchors Aweigh gala to benefit Lightship Overfalls Oct. 12

Anchors Aweigh, the Lightship Overfalls gala fundraiser, is set for 5:30 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, at Lewes Yacht Club.

Guests will be able to enjoy live music and dancing to the upbeat tunes of popular local band Hot Sauce, a buffet dinner, cash bar and live auction. Tickets are $125 per person, a portion of which is tax-deductible.

Located adjacent to Lewes Canalfront Park, the Lightship Overfalls is the only National Historic Landmark in Sussex County and the only maritime landmark in Delaware. With the lightship as its centerpiece, the Overfalls Foundation collects, preserves, honors and teaches the maritime history of Lewes, the Delaware Bay and the coastal region.

The Overfalls Foundation is an all-volunteer organization. Funds raised support preservation and maintenance of the landmark lightship, local scholarships, educational programs for children and adults, and preservation of maritime history through the ship and its artifacts.
