Beebe Medical Foundation recently announced Diana Dickson-Witmer, MD, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Physician Philanthropy Award. The prestigious honor recognizes a physician whose commitment to Beebe Healthcare extends beyond patient care to significant philanthropic contributions, advocacy and leadership in strengthening healthcare services for the community.
Dickson-Witmer, who leads the Beebe Center for Breast Health, has long been a champion of excellence in patient care and medical education. She has played a key role in advancing breast health services, contributing to national committees focused on delivery of cancer care.
A dedicated member of the Beebe Medical Foundation’s 1916 Club, Dickson-Witmer has supported the foundation through her engagement in fundraising initiatives. She has referred grateful patients to the foundation, participated in philanthropic events and inspired others to support Beebe’s mission. Her leadership and commitment to ensuring quality healthcare access have left a lasting impact on the organization and the broader community. She was an instrumental partner in opening the Beebe Center for Breast Health, a fully donor-funded project that has expanded access to advanced breast care for patients in area communities.
“We are honored to recognize Dr. Dickson-Witmer with this award,” said Kay Young, executive director of development at Beebe Medical Foundation. “Her unwavering support of Beebe Healthcare and her dedication to philanthropy truly embody the spirit of this award. Her contributions will continue to inspire others to give back and invest in the future of healthcare in Sussex County.”
The award was presented during a reception held at the Beebe Medical Foundation house, originally the home of Dr. Richard Beebe, one of the founding brothers of Beebe Healthcare. Guests including colleagues, donors and community members gathered to celebrate Dickson-Witmer’s achievements and express their gratitude for her commitment to the community.
