Bidens set to be at North Shores home July 8-10
On their third visit since early June, President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will be spending time at their North Shores beach home. The couple was in town the first weekend of June to celebrate Jill’s birthday June 3, and again to celebrate their June 17 wedding anniversary.
According to the White House’s Daily Guidance and Press Schedule for Friday, July 8, the presidential couple are leaving Washington, D.C., at 7:45 p.m., and are expected to arrive in Rehoboth by 8:40 p.m.
The guidance doesn’t say when the Bidens will be leaving this area; it just says they’ll be in town through the weekend. However, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued a restricted flight area notice that lasts until 11 p.m., Sunday, July 10.
A reminder of security measures taken when Biden is in town:
- Gordons Pond users should expect restrictions. The parking lot is near Biden’s home and is used as a landing site for Marine One.
- The FAA’s temporary flight restrictions limit use of the airspace from Dover south to Ocean City, Md., and west to the Maryland border.
- The Coast Guard establishes security zones in the ocean area immediately in front of North Shores beach and in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.
- If there’s a perceived emergency, the Bidens could be rushed to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company Station 1 on Rehoboth Avenue. That’s what happened when the Bidens were in town earlier this summer after a plane accidentally entered the no-fly zone.
Since Joe was elected president, the Bidens have attended church, walked on the beach and gone for a few bike rides while in Rehoboth Beach. If they do so this trip, send photos to cflood@capegazette.com.
