The Phillies are now on the brink of elimination from the World Series having lost a close Game 5 by the score of 3-2 last night. The Phillies had a lot of chances to score, but they left 12 men on base through the night. The pitching staff did a good job holding the Astros offense down for most of the night, but two runs are not enough to win a World Series game. The team did not give up without a fight, scoring their second run in the eighth inning. They had a runner on third base, but they couldn’t get the big hit to tie the game or go ahead. It’s going to be difficult for the Phillies to win two games in Houston, but the key is going to be just focusing on Game 6. If they win, you never know what can happen in Game 7. The offense needs to wake up again and Zack Wheeler needs to pitch well to give them any chance to pull this off. Regardless of what happens, it’s been a great and unexpected season for the Phillies and us fans!
As expected, the Houston Texans gave the Eagles a good game, at least for the first half. At halftime, the game was tied at 14-14, but then the Eagles used their consistent offense to eventually pull away from the Texans to win the game by the score of 29-17. For the first time in franchise history, the Eagles are now 8-0 going into the next game against the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. I hope the Eagles use this break to rest up for the second half of the season. The Eagles are definitely one of the best teams in the NFC, but I still think the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are the best teams in the NFL. I did not expect to be talking about this in the middle of the season.
Go Phillies!
