The old saying, “You’re not getting older, you’re getting better,” was the order of the evening Nov. 27, as Cape graduates got together at Legends Stadium for the annual Thanksgiving alumni game.
The score really didn’t matter, as the game was about camaraderie of past teammates, earning bragging rights and getting some exercise before Turkey Day.
Playing in the game were Joe Esposito (2011), Cadence McMahon (2024), Niko Panyko (2023), Chris Gonzalez (2020), Angel Arano (2024), Collin Sivels (2024), Leo Hanley (2020), Kyle Skafidas (2024), Will Albanese (2002), Ivan Toledo (2012), Sara Kilby (2024), Troy Humphries (2018), Bradley Seneus (2019), Alan Marin (2020), Chase Kornemann (2003), Will Hastings (2012), Clinton Watts (2002), Zack Swarbrick (2015), Lily Ashby (2022), Jack Ashby (2016), Bryan Mack (2008) and Marco Castellanos (2001).
“It’s cool to see all the different ages who come out for the alumni soccer game,” said 2008 Cape grad Bryan Mack. “At some point, we have all put on the Vikings jersey and tried to make a positive impact on the program. We’ll be back at it next year.”
“I always love coming back to the alumni game,” said 2016 Cape grad Jack Ashby. “It’s always great to see what all of our past players are up to and the successes in their lives. Being a part of a program where there is camaraderie of all ages keeps the strong sense of community – that is Cape soccer.”
“It’s always great to catch up with all the guys and girls,” said Cape head coach Patrick Kilby. “I like learning about all of their life adventures. We have a strong tradition within the Cape soccer program, and it’s always on display during our alumni events.”
