Cocktail contest to benefit local fire companies Nov. 17
The 7th annual War at the Shore is coming to Bethany Blues of Lewes at 6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17.
Bethany Blues mixologist Ryan Minnick, who took the reins on the event two years ago, said he is excited to add several elements, including a fundraising aspect, VIP tickets and a featured guest judge.
“This year, we are going to show the community how tight we really are by doing a beach eats-themed bartender/chef collaboration battle of the restaurants. [We’re] inviting all the local restaurants to be under one roof for a chance to shine and highlight their restaurants for the upcoming off-season. Proceeds will be donated to Rehoboth Beach and Lewes volunteer fire departments. We can’t thank them enough for keeping our restaurants, businesses and community safe and are thrilled that we can give back while enjoying an annual event that garners so much community participation and excitement,” Minnick said.
At least 15 local-area restaurants will participate in this year’s event, which pairs mixology and chef collaborations. Sagamore Rye will provide the spirits.
General-admission tickets include samples of the competitors’ food and drink pairings as well as the ability to vote in the competition. VIP tickets offer early access to the venue, a welcome cocktail, a souvenir glass, small-plate appetizers, first tastings and people's choice voting, and guaranteed seating.
Guest judges will include Zack Trabbold, a three-time winner of Baltimore Magazine's Best Chef of Baltimore honor.
Strictly for ages 21 and above, the event is generally standing room only. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to bethanyblues.com/lewes.
