Delaware Stroke Summit set Dec. 6

November 12, 2024

The Third Annual Stroke Summit will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, at the Hyatt Place, 1301 Coastal Highway, Dewey Beach. Registration is required. To sign up, go to tinyurl.com/yc73358v.

Hosted by Dr. David A. Tam, Beebe Healthcare president and CEO, and E. Thomas Harvey III, American Heart Association Delaware board of directors leadership chair, the summit will again feature a series of expert presenters.

Community members in attendance will learn about risk factors for stroke, warning signs of stroke, recent advances in research, the latest information on prevention, treatment and care, and more.

There will also be clinical breakout sessions to allow for continuing education credits.

Heart disease is the nation’s No. 1 cause of death, claiming nearly 700,000 American lives each year, more than all forms of cancer combined. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S., the third leading cause of death in Delaware, and a leading cause of long-term disability.
