Diamond in the Rough artist reception set Oct. 17

Jazz vocalist Maya Belardo to entertain CAMP Rehoboth guests
October 10, 2024

CAMP Rehoboth announced Diamond in the Rough, a  solo exhibition by artist Theresa Angela Taylor, will be on display from Saturday, Oct. 12 to Thursday, Nov. 7, at 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach.

A bold reflection of her social, political and cultural narratives, Taylor’s work is infused with an Afrocentric vibrancy that radiates with color, rhythm and movement. Her artistic voice is deeply informed by her Harlem upbringing and education at The Art Institute in Arlington, Va. With more than 10 years’ experience as an art educator, Taylor’s career includes contributions to New York City’s City Art Mural program, which engages children in the creation of public art. She is a member of both the Mispillion Art League and the Harlem Arts Alliance.

Featuring musical entertainment by jazz vocalist Maya Belardo, a free reception will be open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17.

Art and jazz run deep in Taylor’s family, a legacy rooted in the creative and cultural richness of the Harlem Renaissance. Her grandfather sang alongside the legendary Cab Calloway, while her father expressed his creativity through painting.
