DNREC’s cottage idea is short-sighted

December 3, 2024

As a 20-year resident of historic Lewes, I am sad to witness the overbuilding of our town. Lovely empty fields and woods, breathing spaces, are being destroyed at a rapid rate to crowd in new homes.

The proposal to build cottages in Cape Henlopen State Park, our saving sanctuary of balm and quiet, is short-sighted and a further deterioration of Lewes’ historic charm. I strongly protest and encourage a town meeting to end this idea.
