I am a homeowner in Sussex County and pay taxes for the state parks. Cape Henlopen State Park is the nicest park I have ever visited. I am a Virginia native and moved here two years ago. I’ve visited many state parks in this country and Cape Henlopen beats them all.
The park has beautiful and clean beaches, beautiful views, a fishing pier with no fee, bike trails and campgrounds. Many people love this park, and it would be a real shame to ruin it because some want to build cottages there. Don’t you think there are already too many homes that surround the area? Then why even think of adding more in this quiet, beautiful park with sand dunes and all Mother Nature has to offer us?
To build cottages, you would cut down trees, invade bird sanctuaries and invade our native space for a developer’s gain. Don’t you think they have taken away enough of our land?
DNREC, please stop this idea of ruining what’s great about living here. Think of this previous election in this county. Most incumbents up for election were booted out because too many homes are being built, which prevents us from enjoying life here. Too much traffic follows. Is that what you really want? Build homes and more will follow. You can count on that. Do your job and protect Cape Henlopen State Park.
