On Sunday, the Eagles qualified for the postseason by beating the Washington Football Team by the score of 20-16 and a Minnesota Vikings loss to the Green Bay Packers. If the Eagles are to have any hope of advancing to the next round once the playoffs begin in two weeks, they have to play the entire 60 minutes well. Not just the second half. Washington rebounded back from their terrible game last week and gave the Eagles their money’s worth. The Eagles came out really flat again considering the importance of this game.
Frankly, the Eagles were lucky to win this game because Washington was driving to win the game at the very end, but Eagles safety Rodney McLeod had a great interception in the end zone to preserve the victory.
In the last game of the regular season this week, the will Eagles play the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night. Both teams have made the playoffs, but the exact seeding of each team may be affected by the outcome.
The NBA season is almost at the halfway point. As of right now, the 76ers are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. I think they are capable of moving up to the second or third in the conference by the end of season. Any of the teams who make the playoffs have a legitimate chance to win the championship if they can keep their superstar players healthy. You never know who’s going to be able to play because of COVID protocols.
If the 76ers can pull off a trade at some point next month for a second superstar player, they can definitely win the championship this year.
I have complained about the College Football Playoff system for years. The built-in monthlong delay in the schedule produced two terrible semifinal games. No other major sport waits a month after the regular season to have the playoffs. I believe that’s why both of the games were so lopsided. I wasn’t that surprised that Alabama beat Cincinnati by over 20 points, but I was shocked about Georgia crushing Michigan. I expect the National Championship game on Monday between Georgia and Alabama to be a lot more competitive. At least I hope so!
