Food Bank has second mass distribution in Sussex
Team of volunteers, Delaware Army National Guard load nearly 79,000 pounds of food
May 21, 2020
More than 150 volunteers helped the Food Bank of Delaware distribute nearly 79,000 pounds of food to 1,491 families during a mass distribution May 18 at Sussex Central High School. The Food Bank has scheduled several mass distributions throughout the state to meet growing demands for food due to financial strains on families caused by COVID-19 restrictions.
Although no more community distributions are planned in Sussex County, people in need of food can phone 211 or 1-800-560-3372, text 898-211 or go to www.delaware211.org to reach partner organizations of the Food Bank.

Delaware Department of Transportation employees man one of the distribution lines set up at the high school.

Members of the Delaware Army National Guard have been instrumental in all Delaware Food Bank distributions across the state.
