Fourth Annual Peace Week builds culture of harmony

September 18, 2019

For nine days, from Sept. 21-29, Peace Week Delaware will bring together people from all three counties - cities and rural areas - who are working toward a culture of peace. Turning energy into action, Peace Week Delaware has registered over 100 free events open to people of all ages.

Steering Committee Chair Kim Tull says, “We are grateful that the number of violent crimes in Delaware is trending down, so we do celebrate progress.  However, violence remains a part of daily life in too many of our communities.” Tull continues, “I invite our friends and neighbors to focus their energy and emotions into constructive action by attending one of our statewide Peace Week events. Join us as we continue to build a culture of peace in Delaware.”

Peace Week Delaware features ongoing as well as one-time programs, including Alternatives to Violence, Peace Concerts, special collections for the underserved, and interfaith potlucks.  Find all events, including date, time and program details, at www.peaceweekdelaware.org/.  Kids can participate in story times, painting, poetry writing, and origami.

Area businesses, community groups, nonprofits, faith communities and individuals are contributing their money, in-kind donations and time to make Peace Week Delaware possible. A full list of sponsors is also available on the website. Donations are encouraged and appreciated.
