Franklin D. Smith Sr., always had a smile

Franklin D. Smith Sr., 91, of Milton, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. 

Franklin was born March 21, 1933, son of the late Daniel and Laura (Lingo) Smith.

He was a brick mason by trade. Frank was a man known to be cool, calm and collected. He always had a smile on his face. He loved his John Deere B., and always had a horse and a dog on the farm. Franklin loved having a large garden to keep him busy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores (Truitt) Smith; three brothers; and four sisters.

He is survived by his seven children, Franklin D. Smith Jr. (Debra) of Harbeson, Cheryle Messick of Milton, William Smith of Laurel, Terry Smith of Milton, Sandy Smith of Milton, Robert Smith of Milton, and John Smith of Milford; 16 grandchildren; 26 grandchildren; and one sister, Phyllis Stout of Milton.

Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Services, Milton.

Services will be private.
