Gruenebaum will bring fresh voice to county

November 1, 2024

I was disappointed in Mayor Andrew Williams and Deputy Mayor Khalil Saliba’s letter of endorsement for Mark Schaeffer. While I am sure that having a county councilman as a constituent is quite useful to them, let’s keep this real.

First and foremost, the current sprawl in Sussex County that is breaking the back of our quality of life has happened on his watch. He cannot run from that record.

Calling out Schaeffer’s no vote on the Round Pole Road subdivision appeal might benefit from a fact check. The fact is, Schaeffer had to recuse himself on this vote, as he had previously filed a lawsuit against this developer regarding his own previously failed development effort up in Milton.

Schaeffer’s popularity in the pro-development community is underscored by the Preserve Sussex political action committee, funded by the same development interests that are ripping this county up. Preserve Sussex, indeed.

New ads, funded by Mark Schaeffer for Sussex, are underway.

Any resemblance to the Jane for Sussex grassroots campaign are no doubt coincidental, right?

Here is a fact to consider: If you are as unhappy about the land-use decisions in our county as I am, sending back the same candidate to serve and hoping for a different result is the definition of madness.

Vote for a fresh voice, independent of the special interests that have created this mess.

Vote for Jane Gruenebaum.
