Lisa Marie Henderson Scholarship awarded to senior nursing student
Amanda Benson, a Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing senior student, was selected as the recipient of the Lisa Marie Henderson Memorial Scholarship.
This year’s award of $1,000 will go toward school expenses. This endowment was initiated by Wade Henderson, Lisa’s husband, in 2020 and is awarded annually for the fall semester to a senior student in Beebe Healthcare’s Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing.
Lisa Henderson passionately worked with oncology patients for her entire 25-year career. The first 17 years she worked in private practice in Frederick, Md., and the last eight years with Beebe Healthcare’s Tunnell Cancer Center. She was nurse manager of the Tunnell Cancer Center her final three years. She gained respect within the Beebe organization from both management, and her nursing staff and oncology doctors. Most of all, she was always an advocate for the patients' experience. It was her hope that this scholarship will assist students eager to pursue a nursing career in oncology.
Benson, a Rehoboth Beach resident, was selected by the N102 team and then approved by the student services committee.
