Mostly baseball

I know it’s not baseball season yet, but it's never too early to talk baseball ... especially with the nasty cold weather we are having. I was very happy to hear that the Phillies re-signed JT Realmuto to a five-year contract. He is the best catcher in the major leagues at this point. I hope they use their backup catcher a little more this year to save J.T.'s legs because he seemed to get tired at the end of the season last year. If Rhys Hoskins and Alec Bohm can play to their potential at first and third base, respectively, that would be big progress for the Phillies.

Unfortunately, we all heard that Hank Aaron had passed away at the age of 86. He was one of the best players in the history of baseball. For over 30 years, he held the MLB total home record at 755 and he had more than 3,800 hits in the major leagues. He was one of a small group of Negro League players to also play Major League Baseball. He played in the majors for 23 years. He definitely earned his place in baseball history.

The Kansas City Chiefs are going to get a chance to defend their Super Bowl championship against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday. Last Sunday, the Chiefs just simply overwhelmed the Buffalo Bills with their super offense. The Bills actually had a 9-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Chiefs scored 21 points in the second quarter and never looked back. I think the Chiefs are the favorite to win their second Super Bowl in a row, despite the history that will be made. I say this because Tampa Bay is the first team ever to host the Super Bowl in their own stadium, and if that wasn't enough, Tom Brady is making history by starting his 10th Super Bowl. That is impressive. I will be rooting for the Chiefs to win and for Andy Reid to cement his legacy as a Hall of Fame coach.
