Nurse & Neighbors Collaborative works to improve lives

November 6, 2024

We are in a period of uncertainty and some distress.

No one knows what our immediate future holds, be it governance, availability of resources, peace or just being able to hold reasonable hope in our everyday lives.

The good news is that there is relief, right here in our backyards.

Here is a simple glossary of terms, perhaps forgotten:

First: Collaboration. It is a synergetic process of working together to create good for all.

Second: Neighbors. Neighbors are fellow human beings, fellow men and women; those living nearby.

Third: Nurses. A group of similarly educated professionals, who for at least 21 consecutive years, have been noted as trustworthy.

Putting these three together, we have, here in this area, the Nurses & Neighbors Collaborative.

Do you know them? Probably so, though not obviously identified.

They are volunteers, present in nearly all areas that we turn to for help.

They may be behind the scenes in public medical screenings, assuring availability for all.

They may be sitting on hospital boards.

They may be screening for health needs within a community organization with a different focus.

They may be offering workshops for various topics relevant to most of us.

They may be advocates for those needing discharge planning from in patient or out patient facilities, so that care can be continued.

They may be collecting toys for kids from poor families.

They may be seeking funds for motel rooms for homeless families in cold weather.

They may be teaching topics of need and interest for HOAs.

They may be serving overseas for disadvantaged societal groups.

They may be providing aid in researching relief for those needing skilled help and without IT skills.

They may be helping put in place effective public transportation for the handicapped or elderly.

They may be doing the most basic and surprising things to help everyone, from poor, disenfranchised or wealthy, or just anyone in this area in need of a hand.

If you don’t know them, here is who and where they may be found … and their services are absolutely free for everyone.

They are an established nonprofit organization that works mainly on private donations, out of their own pockets and from grant money.

They provide synergy: energy above and beyond the yield of other helping groups.

They are Nurses & Neighbors Collaborative. For more information, email nursesandneighbors@gmail.com or call 302-582-0072.
