Everyone acknowledges how often expectations do not match reality. However, when reality exceeds expectations, that’s when you know you really have made a terrific decision.
I had knee replacement surgery March 16 at Beebe’s Specialty Surgical Hospital with Wilson Choy, MD. Dr. Choy and the staff were excellent. I had an amazing experience that exceeded all of my expectations.
From the moment my family and I stepped into the Specialty Surgical Hospital to the moment we left, I was surrounded by professional and compassionate healthcare specialists. We were greeted like family and taken care of every step of the way. I felt incredibly safe and was kept informed of what was going to happen before, during and after the surgery. Dr. Choy kept my family informed, and the entire Beebe staff made sure everything was taken care of.
When I woke up after surgery, there was someone beside me, a caring hand on my shoulder, and a real person who wanted to know how they could help me. My private room was like a hotel room with state-of-the-art design and equipment, and a huge window with a sunset view.
Without exception, all of the nurses involved in my care were thoughtful, and compassionate, and always there when I needed them. Steve Horn from the physical therapy team got me up and moving, and I was amazed how soon I was walking (with a walker)!
After I arrived at my room, lunch was served, and it was delicious. Lots of choices for my meals, always hot, delivered in a timely manner and with a smile. Later, when the discharge planner arrived, everything was explained, and in-home physical therapy was arranged for me. Once again, Beebe staff made everything happen, and the worry left our minds.
The next morning, after being checked over, I was ready to go home. As I was leaving, the elevator doors opened, and we were cheered on by Peggy Revelle, Shannon Patterson and Nicole Swift. They said goodbye and placed me carefully in our vehicle – one last, warm and caring touch. Beebe represents our community, and they have made a commitment to our care. The people who work there are beyond amazing, and I am proud to be a Beebe supporter.
I am on the road to recovery. We want to express our gratitude to: Beebe CEO Dr. David Tam; Wilson Choy, MD; Linda Choy, MD; Maciej Klosowski, MD; the entire surgical staff; and all the nurses, caregivers, environmental and food service personnel in the surgery center including Akash Patel, RN; McKenzie Collins, RN; Erica Riccick, RN; Dot Daisey, CNA; Jamie Moore, RN; Sylvia Potter, RN; Steven Walters, RN; Dawn Roach, RN; Carey Murray, RN; Brian Hughes, CRNA; Jennifer Hazzard, PA; Michele Malick, RN,;RJ Willoughby; Wendy Evans; and Eliza Gross.
