Police arrest suspect in Georgetown home invasion
Delaware State Police have arrested a man they say took part in a home invasion in Georgetown Aug. 8.
Police say Lyndon King, 36, broke into a house on Zoar Road belonging to a 69-year-old woman. King had walked away from the Sussex Community Corrections Center, the community service wing of Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown.
Police say when the woman arrived at her house, King was there and threatened her, pushed her to the ground and pulled the house phone from the wall to keep her from calling 911. He then stole her cellphone and fled in her Chevrolet Trax.
After King fled, the woman went outside, waved down a passing vehicle and called 911. Troopers were able to electronically track the car, and learned it was in Salisbury, Md. Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and Salisbury Police Department found the vehicle and King near Staples on North Salisbury Boulevard, where he was taken into custody. The woman was not hurt during the incident.
King was charged with four felonies, including first-degree robbery, first-degree home invasion, terroristic threatening of a person over 62, and theft of a motor vehicle. He was also charged with three misdemeanors.
