Racial justice alliance honors Beacon Middle students
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice recently honored Beacon Middle students Mikah Jackson and Kyla Anadu for their leadership, effort and excellence.
Mikah is an athlete, scholar and a dedicated family member. He appreciates the inspiration and advice he receives from his mother and siblings, and applies what he learns from them to his academic career. Mikah excels in language arts and participates in several sports.

Mikah gets both relief and power from his involvement in sports. He is a keen student of others and strives to become a better athlete by incorporating what he observes in his teammates. Mikah’s continuous growth and effort are to be applauded.
Kyla is an outstanding student who represents everything an eighth-grader should be. Well-liked, admired and respected, this talented young woman demonstrates all that is good in the world today.
Kyla demonstrates outstanding academic performance. She sets a high personal standard without compromise, and her work ethic and inquisitive nature make her a joy in the classroom. She has strong leadership skills, and is a reliable and trusted friend. Teachers can count on Kyla as a role model for her peers, and she is a good representative of her family.
Kyla displays cultural awareness. She is respectful and inclusive in her interactions with others and values all perspectives. She educates herself about different cultures, customs and traditions. Kyla values diversity and understands the importance of promoting equity and inclusion in all areas of life.
