Cameron Smith earns school honors
December 19, 2022

The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice recently honored Sussex Consortium student Cameron Smith for his leadership, improvement, effort and excellence.

Cameron’s teachers say he has grown into a true leader of his classroom. He recognizes the needs of others and offers assistance or words of encouragement to those who may need a helping hand. He continues to amaze his teachers with the strategies he develops, which also help others who may be struggling with a concept. Cameron is an absolute asset to his classroom.

Cameron received a $20 gift card to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth and the book, "The Highest Tribute: Thurgood Marshall's Life, Leadership, and Legacy," by Kekla Magoon. Browseabout is a sponsor of the award.

SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen School District are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity. For more information, go to sdarj.org.
