In Super Bowl LVI, the LA Rams won the game 23-20 over the Cincinnati Bengals. At the start of the game, it seemed like the Rams were going to win easily, but the Bengals were able to hang in there the whole way. If the Bengals’ offensive line had performed just a little bit better, they could’ve kept the lead and possibly won the game. The Rams were able to sack Joe Burrow seven times, which tied the record for the most sacks of one quarterback in Super Bowl history. That's a tough stat for the quarterback!
On the Rams’ side, I’m happy for Matthew Stafford and Aaron Donald for finally getting what they wanted with a Super Bowl championship. Stafford has been a very good quarterback for years for Detroit. He hasn’t gotten the credit he deserves because the Lions haven't had the best teams in his career there. Donald has been one of the best defensive linemen through his career and will likely now get into the hall of fame.
The Winter Olympics are winding down. I don’t think the USA is going to win the medal count like I predicted, but it’s going to be close. I’ve been quite impressed with the crazy heights and gymnastic skills of all the snowboarders and ski jumpers in their specialty events. For me, the biggest difference between most of the Summer and Winter Olympic sports is how dangerous most of the winter sports are. It is hard for me to watch all the bobsledding, luge and skeleton events because I can’t imagine how the competitors deal with the danger with every run at 70-80 mph in a concrete chute covered in ice.
The U.S. women’s hockey team won a silver medal in a 3-2 loss to Canada. In the 25-year history of women’s hockey in the Olympics, either team Canada or team USA has won gold every time. That's quite a rivalry.
I wish I could tell you something positive about the Major League Baseball labor talks, but it doesn't look good right now. Pitchers and catchers were supposed to report for spring training. Not so much and I don't know when that is going to happen. So sad. They need to get their act together soon!
