School of Nursing scholarship awarded to Jaylee Backus

Jaylee Backus, a Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing senior student, was selected as the recipient of the Andrea Chomo Smith Memorial Scholarship. This year’s award of $1,000 will go toward school expenses.

This endowment was initiated in 2024 by Robert Smith to honor the memory of his late wife, a dedicated nurse whose work began in an Army field hospital in Vietnam. During her career, she worked with pediatric patients, in psychiatric care and trauma case management, and with hospice patients. The scholarship is awarded annually for the fall semester to a senior student in Beebe Healthcare’s Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing

Backus, a resident of Wyoming, was selected by the N102 team and then approved by the student services committee.
