Seven bids received for new Dewey Town Hall

Commissioners likely to select winner later this month or in February

The Town of Dewey Beach received seven bids for its new town hall, police station and EMS facility, which in August 2024 secured an additional $1 million in funding, meeting its originally estimated $7.3 million price tag.

The official bidding period closed Jan. 17, immediately after which Deane Townsend of GMB Architecture publicly opened and read each of the submitted proposals in the order received. 

According to Townsend and Dewey officials, the candidate will likely be chosen in February or late January.

Harkins Contracting

Harkins is an employee-owned, Maryland-based construction company. 

Estimated length of construction: 640 calendar days

Base bid: $11,849,800

Gillis Gilkerson - GGI Builders

GGI is a Salisbury, Md.-based construction and development firm.

Estimated length of construction: 450 calendar days

Base bid: $13,109,000.76

Keller Brothers 

Keller is a Salisbury, Md.-based general contractor.

Estimated length of construction: 670 calendar days

Base bid: $12,343,000

Delmarva Veteran Builders

Delmarva Veteran Builders is a commercial construction firm located in Salisbury, Md., that is dedicated to employing U.S. Armed Forces veterans.

Estimated length of construction: 685 calendar days

Base bid: $12,295,000

Costello Construction 

Costello Construction is a Columbia, Md.-based general contractor.

Estimated length of construction: 600 calendar days

Base bid: $11,080,000 

Emory Hill

Emory Hill is a New Castle-based construction management firm.

Estimated length of construction: 502 calendar days

Base bid: $12,330,000

Whayland Construction

Whayland is a Laurel-based general contractor.

Estimated length of construction: 700 calendar days

Base bid: $12,600,000.
