Snyder-Hall is ready to get to work

November 19, 2024

I write to express my heartfelt thanks to the voters of RD 14 who overwhelmingly chose me to represent our district in Dover. My campaign team and I are proud of the strong support we received across the entire district; we won a majority of votes in 10 out of 11 electoral districts and lost by only 36 votes in 1401 (which is in Lewes).

We are grateful for the many individuals who volunteered to help (over 100 people) throughout the nine-month campaign, and for the generosity of the hundreds of small donors who made our campaign a success.

Two days after the election, I was happy to participate in the long-standing and unique Sussex County tradition of coming together across party lines to bury the hatchet. I enjoyed chatting with my new Republican and Democratic colleagues during the Return Day festivities and honoring all who ran for office, regardless of outcome.

The very next day, I went to Dover to join the Democratic Caucus at Legislative Hall, where we elected new leadership, including the very first Black woman speaker of the House, Melissa Minor Brown, and the very first Black lesbian majority leader, Kerri Evelyn Harris. I look forward to working with our majority caucus, as well as the minority caucus, in the coming year.

Right now, our country faces a time of significant change, and I know many people are worried. As the new RD 14 state representative, I promise to work tirelessly to protect and strengthen our local community and our entire state in what could be troubling times, and I look forward to engaging with my neighbors as we face the future together.

Rep. Claire Snyder-Hall
Rehoboth Beach
