St. Cecilia Guild opens Sept. 23 in Lewes with music for harpsichords
The Chamber Players, consisting of violinist Sylvia Ahramjian, cellist Ovidiu Marinescu and organist and harpsichordist T.J. Thomas, will be augmented by four artists from West Chester University: Anna Kislitsyna playing piano and harpsichord; Felicia Reilly, viola; Hanna Choi, violin, and Hyewon Jo, cello.
The two harpsichords that will be played in this performance were built by Lewes resident Gerald Kaplan.
“This season builds on the success of the two previous seasons and will introduce several new ensembles from Delaware and beyond,” said T.J. Thomas, St. Peter’s music director. The Chamber Players will make five appearances during the 2018-19 season.
The mission of St. Cecilia’s Guild, an outreach ministry of the music program at St. Peter’s, is to present high-quality musical events not heard elsewhere in eastern Sussex County. All programs
are offered free of charge.
Other concerts this year, all at St. Peter’s Church, include the Albright College Choirs of Reading, Pa., directed by Adlai Binger, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.; the Lewes Chamber Players with “Aria: Baroque to Romantic,” featuring guest vocalist Dr. James Wilson, conductor of the Delaware Choral Society and Kent Chamber Choir, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.; and a presentation of “Advent Lessons and Carols,” modeled on pattern of the famous annual service at King’s College, Cambridge, Dec. 9 at 5 p.m.
