June 10, 2024

A Maryland teen faces charges after police say he sped northbound on Route 1 June 8, failing to pull over for a police officer, before flipping his vehicle near Sylvan Acres Road.

Police said Daniel Munroe, 18, of Pasadena, Md., was driving a black 2007 Ford Ranger at 11:16 p.m. with no headlights on and continued driving in an aggressive manner when a trooper tried to pull him over. As the Ford approached the intersection with Sylvan Acres Road, police said, the truck exited the roadway onto the grassy median, overturned multiple times, and came to a stop in the southbound lanes of Route 1. Munroe was ejected from the window while the Ford overturned and was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated and released for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Munroe was charged with felony disregarding a police officer, driving under the influence of alcohol under 21, aggressive driving, driving vehicle at an unreasonable speed, failure to have lights on when required, four counts of failure to use turn signal, and possession of personal-use quantity marijuana under 21.
