Time for rebates from Lewes BPW?

December 17, 2024

Back on Oct. 29, the Lewes Board of Public Works sent an email urging all customers to save water during the drought conditions.

The BPW’s water statistics quoted that outdoor water use accounts for more than 30% of total household usage. This is the water you use on your lawn, flowers, vegetables, trees, birdbaths, fishponds, car washing, etc.

Since this water is used outside the home, it does not drain into the BPW sewer system to be treated at our sewerage treatment plant.

Now if you look at your BPW bill, you'll see our sewer bills are based on 80% of our water use. It should be less than 70%!

I'm wondering if I can get my refund before the holidays.
