Unitarian Universalists empathy course to start Oct. 8

October 2, 2019

For a one-time donation of $10, the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will offer a three-session lecture series on the subject of empathy from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Tuesdays, Oct. 8, 15 and 22.

Presented by Pennsylvania psychologist Charles Bittner, the Challenge of Empathy will explore the personal benefits of becoming more empathic, obstacles that make it difficult, and established methods for achieving empathy with even the most different people.

Empathy is a physical response that can be generated by a movie, a book, a musical piece or other living beings.

There are times when people don’t automatically respond with empathy and see it as a challenge. If people do want to go there, they can learn how to open themselves to making that connection with another.

This series will lay out ideas on empathy and help people to consider expanding empathy in their lives and the lives of others.

UUSD is at 30486 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, Lewes. For more information or to preregister, email AdultEdEmpathy@uussd.org.
