Following church services Oct. 6, Faith United Methodist Church members, Delaware State Archives representatives and local elected officials unveiled a historical marker for Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
The church has a long history in Rehoboth. In August 1884, Elijah Burton donated the one-acre lot where the current church stands, at 19940 Church St., Rehoboth. The church was incorporated in January 1899 and was enlarged in 1946. Between 1946 and 1966, Mt. Pleasant became a part of the Delaware Conference. In 2007, Mt. Pleasant merged with John Wesley United Methodist Church and St. Paul United Methodist Church, forming Faith United Methodist Church.
