Eagles nightmare

The Philadelphia Eagles got crushed by the Dallas Cowboys Sunday with a final score of 37-10. The team's performance was embarrassing from the very start. The Cowboys went out to a very quick 14-0 lead five minutes into the first quarter on two turnovers by the Eagles. After that, the defense did not help much to improve things.

The game schedule does not get much easier for the Eagles in the next two weeks. They have to play the Buffalo Bills on the road and the Chicago Bears at home. I'm not feeling all that optimistic for a miraculous turnaround unless I see some great improvement in these two games.

The NBA season officially starts this week. Unfortunately, Zion Williamson, who was the number one pick in the draft this year, is out with a knee injury before his career even officially starts. He’s eventually going to play for the New Orleans Pelicans. I hope he is not the new version of Greg Oden or Bill Walton, who had their careers significantly shortened by chronic knee injuries. I think Williamson has the talent to be almost as good as LeBron James, but only if he stays healthy. He’s built like an NFL tight end, but plays basketball at 6 foot 8 inches and 275 pounds. That's big!

It seems like the Philadelphia Phillies got their man. They hired Joe Girardi to be manager. He was my first choice as well, so I'm feeling good about this. He was the Yankees' manager for 10 years, and takes credit for winning the 2009 World Series over the Phillies. He was also a long-time player for the Cubs and Cardinals in the 1990s.

I hope it goes well for Girardi and the Phillies. What will help make this a real success story is if management finally gets some pitching to help him.
