Milton-based musician Al “Frantic” Knight, owner of Frantic Frets Music and Antiques, will perform a 3-hour benefit virtual concert to support the Milton Community Foundation’s Milton DE COVID-19 Relief Fund. The show, May Day Virtual Concert for a Cause, will be broadcast from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 1, at www.facebook.com/FranticFrets.
The Milton Community Foundation has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help those who have been directly impacted by income loss due to COVID-19. The group is seeking to raise $10,000 through the campaign, set up as a single place where people can contribute and help those affected within the Milton community. Foundation President Steve Crawford said, “One of the foundation board members suggested that the MCF might want to help community members who have been directly impacted by COVID-19. From that suggestion and outreach to the various Milton civic organizations, a COVID-19 relief campaign was started. Donations can be made either online or by check to: Milton Community Foundation, P.O. Box 12, Milton, DE 19968. Food Lion gift cards will be given to in-need families to help them be more food secure during this stressful time.”
Knight and his wife Mary moved to Milton just over two years ago. After reading about the fundraiser in the Cape Gazette, the couple brainstormed on how they could help.
“Due to the coronavirus, we cannot just do a traditional fundraising event with live music, food and event-goers, so we have to think outside the box,” said Knight. Since they have been doing a weekly Facebook broadcast every Tuesday, they decided to try doing a live, virtual concert as their way to help. There is no fee for the show by Al Frantic, but viewers will be encouraged to donate to the fundraiser through email, the Facebook event and during the broadcast.
