Already missing baseball

November 6, 2021

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles controlled the game from start to finish against the Detroit Lions. The final score of 44-6 tells just how good that effort was and a huge improvement over their previous matchups. The entire team stepped up and played a very good game. They finally ran the ball which has been my biggest complaint so far this season. Not having to depend on Jalen Hurts to do everything made for a much better team performance and allowed the offense to function the way they are supposed to. Even though the Lions aren't crazy good this year, it was somewhat surprising to see them perform so poorly because they have been close to winning a few of their games this season.

This week will be a bigger test for the Eagles, as they play against the Los Angeles Chargers who have a much stronger record so far. I hope the Eagles’ strong team effort last week wasn't a fluke and that they continue to bring this new level of performance on a regular basis now.

On Tuesday, the Atlanta Braves won their first World Series Championship since 1995. They finished off with a huge win against the Houston Astros in Game 6 by the score of 7-0. The Braves’ offense was a lot more consistent than the Astros throughout the entire series. The Braves hit 11 home runs compared to the Astros only hitting two. The Braves also had more consistent starting pitching from Max Fried and Ian Anderson.

I think the Braves will be the favorite to win the National League East Division next year. They will eventually get back their injured pitchers, Charlie Morton and Mike Soroka, and their best outfielder, Ronald Acuna Jr., who suffered an ACL injury in July. So my Phillies have a lotta work to do, but they have some time to make that happen.
