I am just as surprised as anyone else

October 21, 2022

No one expected the Philadelphia Phillies to make it this far in the playoffs, including me. I was perfectly happy when they made it into the Division Series against the Atlanta Braves, but now that they have advanced to the National League Championship Series against the San Diego Padres, I believe they can represent the National League in the World Series. As of now, the NLCS is tied 1-1. The next three games are at home Friday to Sunday in Philadelphia. If the Phillies are to advance to the next round, they have to win at least two out of the three games this weekend. I sure hope they can achieve this challenge.

On the American League side, the Houston Astros are playing the New York Yankees. I think the Astros are a big favorite to win the entire thing because of their pitching rotation including Justin Verlander and Framber Valdes. If the Phillies get to the play the Astros in the World Series, it will be a rematch from the 1980 National League Championship Series that the Phillies won in five exciting games on their way to their first championship. When the league was realigned in 2013, the Astros changed to the American League from the National League.

Go Phillies!

The Eagles were able to maintain their undefeated record by beating the Dallas Cowboys by 10 points last week. The Eagles continued their success running the football and the vaunted Dallas defense was not as awesome as advertised. The Cowboys quarterback, Cooper Rush, came back to Earth and played like a back up quarterback with multiple interceptions. The Birds defense was very opportunistic. The Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott is going to come back this week against the Detroit Lions. The Eagles have their bye week, but they have to be careful next week because they play the Pittsburgh Steelers who were a struggling team, but they just beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of nowhere. So anything can and does happen in the NFL season. Go Eagles!!
