On Sunday, the Eagles crushed the New York Giants by the score of 48-22. The whole team played a very complete game. The offense continues to be unstoppable and the defense sacked the Giants quarterbacks seven times. With this win, the Eagles improved to 12-1 and clinched a playoff spot. Unless they lose three of the four games remaining in the regular season, they will have the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.
The Eagles now have to play two games in six days. The first is against Chicago this Sunday, then at Dallas on Christmas Eve. This could be quite difficult, especially if the weather is bad in Chicago. It's going to be great to see what happens.
The World Cup soccer final is Sunday between Argentina and France. The French are the defending champions, so they will most likely be the favorites. If France wins, this will be the first time there’s been back-to-back champions since Brazil in 1962! That's 60 years, folks!! Can you imagine the betting that's going to take place!? Even though Brazil and Germany lost in the round of 16, and England lost in the quarterfinals, this is the best final that FIFA could have hoped for. France and Argentina have two of the most well-known players in the world in Argentina's Lionel Messi and France's Killian Mbappé. It should be a great match.
The Philadelphia 76ers are playing very well in the past week. They have won three consecutive games at home, and have four more home games before Christmas as well. Since they got off to a slow start, they’re only in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. This puts them in a tough spot and they will have to continue winning a number games if they want to catch up to the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks who are at the top of the conference standings.
I don’t know how long Joel Embiid can continue his MVP-level play, but in one game this week he scored 53 points and had 12 rebounds. Wishing him good health and great stats in the weeks ahead. He is pretty freaking amazing.
By the way, the World Cup final soccer match is on Fox at 10 a.m., Sunday. I will be watching for sure!
