Wescoat Scholarship applications due April 7
Members of the Cape Henlopen High School class of 2023 and prior graduates who wish to be considered for financial aid from the Wescoat Scholarship Fund are invited to get application forms from the Cape Henlopen High School Guidance Office.
All completed applications forms should be mailed to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 464, Lewes, DE 19958, postmarked by Friday, April 7.
The will of the late Louise Wescoat l’Hommedieu of Lewes states that the committee to administer the fund will be composed of the rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Lewes, the superintendent of schools of the local district, and the mayor of Lewes.
This fund has benefited college-bound students from Cape Henlopen High School for more than 45 years. The awards are available to worthy and needy graduates of the high school, but not necessarily to those who have attained the highest scholastic rating during their high school experience. Those who can benefit are individuals who plan to attend accredited colleges or universities in the United States.
To date, it has been possible for the committee to provide more than 250 scholarships, each in the amount of at least $200. The number and monetary value of scholarships are dependent upon the cash balance in the fund.
