No more undefeated season for the Eagles

October 20, 2023

On Sunday, the Eagles lost their first game in gut-wrenching fashion 20-14 to the New York Jets. The offense did not have a good game, which is unfortunate, because the defensive line dominated the Jets’ offense the entire game. They had five or six sacks. Most of the game, it looked like the Eagles were going to pull out another victory. The offensive playcalling did not make much sense for most of the game. They got way too pass happy! It drives me crazy.

It could be a good thing that they lost the game to prove to the team they have to play more complete football games if they want to have a successful season like last year. This team is definitely capable of that, but they have to prove it. The Eagles’ next game is Sunday night against the 5-1 Miami Dolphins who have an exciting offense. Then the Eagles have a bye week. Go Eagles!

The Phillies are in the middle of the National League Championship Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. If they continue playing great offensive baseball, I should be reporting next week about them being in the World Series. This could be tough though because they have to play the next two games in Arizona. The Phillies currently have a 2-1 series lead. It will be very important for the Phillies to win at least one game in Arizona so they don’t have to sweep games six and seven in Philly. I hope they win this series in fewer than seven games so they can set their optimum pitching rotation for the World Series. If the Phillies can repeat the offensive output in game two yet again against Arizona and score 10 runs a few times, they could be having another parade down Broad Street. Go Phillies!
