Reading the Gazette while on a Mediterranean cruise in Athens, Greece
March 9, 2024
Cape Gazette readers Cindy and Steve Juskiewicz of Harbeson are shown here enjoying a sunny October day in Athens, Greece. Athens served as the start and end point for their wonderful two-week Eastern Mediterranean cruise on the MS Nieuw Statendam operated by Holland America. The cruise itinerary included port calls in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and Israel. The archway is the entrance to the Odeon of Herodes Atticus built in 161 AD. This Roman-era theater, which holds 5,000 people, is carved into the south slope of the Acropolis and is still in use today for concerts.
