Child Inspired announced registration is open for its summer programs for children and teens, with fees discounted through Monday, April 8.
The family-centered therapeutic practice offers speech/feeding therapy, occupational therapy and behavioral therapy to support children in Southern Delaware with developmental delays, fine/gross motor coordination skills, psychological needs and sensory processing differences.
Fun, weekly themed day camps developed to inspire and empower children in the community will meet at 32026 Long Neck Road, Millsboro. Camps run Monday to Thursday, filled with hands-on, developmentally appropriate learning activities and collaborations with peers in a small-group setting.
With a maximum of six children per session, camps for children ages 5 to 8 years old will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and camps for youngsters ages 9 to 12 will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.
Children will learn strategies and develop social interaction skills while engaging with peers. Activities and games will work on turn-taking, tolerating “no,” sharing and waiting. Child Inspired’s family education specialist will support academic learning by practicing critical thinking skills with engaging writing and math activities. Sensory activities will be included with crafts and gross motor movement breaks in Child Inspired’s new sensory gym. Each day, children will make a fun snack related to the camp’s theme of the week.
Camp themes and dates include: June 24-27, outer space; July 8-11, beach; July 15-18, ice cream; July 22-25, sharks; July 29-Aug. 1, camping; Aug. 5-8, Legos; and Aug. 12-15, back-to-school butterflies.
To allow teens ages 13-17 to practice functional daily living skills through creative and social activities, Child Inspired will also offer functional Fridays beginning June 28 and ending Aug. 23. Sessions for teens ages 13-14 will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and sessions for ages 15-17 will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. These interactive and engaging sessions will focus on food preparation, social skills, money and time management, and independent living skills.Teens will cook, play games, work on budgeting and creating schedules, and practice following sequences.
