Lewes Historical Society names director of marketing, public relations
The Lewes Historical Society recently announced Jamie Zimmerman as its first full-time director of marketing and public relations.
“This strategic addition comes as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our outreach and engagement with the community,” said Andrew Lyter, LHS executive director.
Zimmerman’s career has been marked by advocacy for justice and equality, including roles as a caseworker for the aging population, an outreach manager for a disability justice nonprofit organization, a media specialist for a social justice podcast, and a newsletter content creator and editor for an advocacy organization. She earned an undergraduate degree in kinesiology, and master’s degrees in applied gerontology and creative writing.
"Jamie is a perfect fit for our team," said Lyter. “Her multifaceted background, expertise and passion will be invaluable as we work to further our mission and connect with a broader audience."
In her new role, Zimmerman will oversee all marketing initiatives including digital promotion, content creation and public relations. She will work closely with the development team to enhance the society’s brand presence and drive engagement across all platforms.
"I am honored to join the Lewes Historical Society and contribute to such a meaningful cause," said Zimmerman. "I look forward to collaborating with this dedicated team to amplify our message and make a lasting impact."
Zimmerman said she will stress consistency and presence in her approach to messaging.
“My goal is to help the public become more aware of LHS events and programs, and the incredible people who make it all possible, many of whom are volunteers who work tirelessly to share our town’s history in vibrant and thought-provoking ways. I want to show people that learning about history isn’t just for historians, but for anyone who enjoys storytelling. It’s for anyone who cares about gaining an understanding of how we got to this exact point in the present so we can move into a more luminous future.”
