Finding new small-town friends in Italy with the Gazette

September 18, 2024

Ed and Lauren Rush recently completed a trip to Italy, accompanied by the Cape Gazette, to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Living in Lewes, The First Town in the First State, they felt it appropriate to take the picture in Matera, one of the oldest settled cities in Europe. Standing in a square outside a church on a hill in Matera, Ed asked a random person walking by to take his and Lauren’s picture. The guy (Dennis) replied, Hey, it's the Cape Gazette, I get that paper." It turns out that not only do he and his wife live in Lewes, but they live in the community of Governors too. Living in such a small world, they all decided a photo together would be appropriate. Ed and Lauren are shown here with their new friends, Carol and Dennis Uhrich. Cheers to many more years together, Ed and Lauren!
