Bridgeville fire causes $300,000 in damage in parking lot
A parking lot fire Oct. 12 near Bridgeville’s Apple Scrapple Festival caused about $300,000 in damage, officials say.
The fire was reported after 3 p.m. in an offsite parking lot in the 18000 block of Wesley Church Road where emergency responders found more than a dozen cars on fire. Chief Deputy John M. Galaska of the Delaware State Fire Marshal service said one vehicle caught fire and it spread, damaging another 13 vehicles. Vehicle damage ranged from minor to severe, he said.
The fire remains under investigation, Galaska said, but there is no indication of foul play and there are no reported injuries. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact the Sussex Division of the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office at 302-856-5600.
