Bountiful exhibition at Gallery One continues thru Dec. 4
Gallery One announced its exhibition, Bountiful, will be open to the public through Wednesday, Dec. 4, at at 32 Atlantic Ave., Ocean View.
Featured paintings reflect the bounty and beauty of the season, and the appeal of the local area.
“True Blessing” artist Eileen Olson said, “Organic shapes come alive with a plethora of colors in greens, golds and deep reds in this painting, and are used to evoke abundance. I wanted to represent the very essence of nature’s bounty with free expression in my acrylic abstract.”
Laurie Fields also evokes abundance in quantity in her abstract oil, “Morocca 1.”
Local waters are illustrated in Edward Lewandowski’s oil painting, “Chesapeake Tongers,” and Laura Hickman’s pastel, "Fishing Along the Canal.”
Lewandowski said, “Oysters were once bountiful in the waters around Smith Island, Md. Today, local watermen still harvest these tasty bivalves using a backbreaking harvest method called tonging. I captured this scene of a crew pulling oysters from the water on the first day of the season in October 2023.”
The abundance of harvest from the land is celebrated in Dale Sheldon’s acrylic, "Sussex Orchard Bounty," Joyce Condry’s “Vino Rosso,” and Marybeth Paterson’s oil, “Lloyd’s of Lewes.” Paterson said, “Lloyd’s Market in Lewes has been a mainstay for local residents as well as visitors. I wanted to capture the abundance of fresh produce, but even more the warmth and appreciation we have in Lewes for this treasured gem.”
The abundance of nature’s palette is on view in Mary Bode Byrd’s “Before the Leaves Turn,” Cindy Beyer’s “Autumn's Bounty” and Lesley McCaskill’s vibrant ode to summer at the shore, “Spot on the Beach.” Beyer said, “The spectacular menagerie of colors inspired me to paint this painting, the color of the crisp chilly blue lake contrasting with the orange colors of the leaves. A true complement of each other.”
