Milton Community Foundation seeks cap and gown donors

January 5, 2025

Every year, the Milton Community Foundation makes a donation to Cape Henlopen High School to support graduating seniors in need of financial help to obtain their caps and gowns.

This donation is made in the name of the Noble Prettyman Fund, a core initiative of the foundation. Prettyman was a longtime school board member who cared deeply about providing equal educational opportunities for all students.

Seniors are required to have a cap and gown to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Due to tremendous community support, the foundation has donated more than $15,000 for seniors to receive financial support for their caps and gowns, student accounts and yearbooks, as funding allows. Last year, MCF presented a check for $4,900 to Cape High representatives.

As the Milton Community Foundation is a local nonprofit, Cape High seniors from Milton are supported first.

If funds are left over, additional seniors in need are supported in obtaining their caps and gowns. Any remaining monies will be used to assist Milton seniors in need with paying other expenses associated with graduation.

To donate for this year’s initiative, go to miltoncommunityfoundation.org or send a check to the Milton Community Foundation, PO Box 12, Milton, DE 19968.

Organizers plan to make the donation by the end of February so caps, gowns and yearbooks can be ordered in a timely manner.
